About JDM Tackle Compare

What this site is, how it is run, and where the numbers come from.

What we do

JDM Tackle Compare helps anglers outside Japan compare Japan-market (JDM) fishing reels. We put the manufacturers' Japanese specifications side by side, explain how they differ from US-market (USDM) listings, and record parts compatibility only where the manufacturer publishes it.

How the site is run

This is a small, independent site. Public information is gathered and organised with the help of AI tools, and a person reviews it before publication. We do not test reels, and we do not publish hands-on reviews, ratings or impressions of how a reel feels. We are not affiliated with Shimano, Daiwa or any retailer.

How we check specs

  • Official sources only. Each value comes from the maker's own Japanese product page and spec table (fish.shimano.com/ja-JP, daiwa.com/jp), or from the maker's own custom-parts brand for compatibility (Yumeya, SLP Works). US-market values come from Shimano North America and Daiwa USA.
  • Every record carries its sources with the date we checked them, listed at the bottom of each page.
  • "Not confirmed" means we could not find the value on an official source. It does not mean the reel lacks that feature.
  • No inferred compatibility. A part is listed only if the manufacturer names it. Similar dimensions are not enough.
  • Unit conversions (g to oz, kg to lb, cm to in) are our own arithmetic and are always shown in brackets, separate from manufacturer figures.
  • No prices, stock or star ratings. These change quickly and are shown only on retailers' own sites.

Corrections

Makers update spec tables and add sizes. If something here does not match the official page, please tell us through the contact page.
