What the official numbers show

  • Gear ratio: all three are listed at 5.1:1, with retrieve per crank of 75 cm (both Shimano) and 72 cm (Daiwa).
  • Weight: 160 g for the 22 Exist LT2500S, 165 g for the 23 Vanquish 2500S and 210 g for the Twin Power 2500S.
  • Max drag: Daiwa lists 5 kg for the Exist LT2500S; Shimano lists 4 kg for both 2500S models (with a separate "practical drag" figure of 2.5 kg, which Daiwa's table does not give).
  • PE line capacity: all three list 0.6-gō × 200 m. Shimano additionally lists 0.8 × 150 m and 1 × 120 m.
  • Bearings: 12/1 (Exist), 11/1 (Vanquish), 9/1 (Twin Power), written as ball / roller.
  • Spool: Shimano gives 47 mm diameter and 17 mm stroke for both 2500S models; Daiwa gives a 45 mm diameter.

Both Shimano series place the Vanquish and Twin Power 2500S on the same listed spool dimensions and line capacity; the listed differences between them are weight (165 g vs 210 g), bearing count and the technologies each page names (Vanquish: Magnumlite Rotor; Twin Power: Infinity Drive, Duracross, Anti-Twist Fin, among others).

2500S vs C2500S (Shimano)

Shimano sells both a 2500S and a C2500S in the 23 Vanquish range. They share the same PE and nylon capacity, but the official table lists a different spool (C2500S: 44 mm dia. / 13.5 mm stroke; 2500S: 47 mm dia. / 17 mm stroke), a lower max drag on the C2500S (3 kg vs 4 kg) and a different Yumeya spool type. Check the exact size code before ordering spare spools or handles.

Size-code suffixes in these tables

In both makers' tables, letters after the size mark higher-gear versions of the same body: Vanquish 2500S is 5.1:1 and 2500SHG is 5.8:1; Exist LT2500S is 5.1:1, LT2500S-H 5.8:1 and LT2500S-XH 6.2:1.

Officially listed compatibility

We only record parts compatibility that the manufacturer publishes, either in its own spec table or through its own custom-parts brand (Yumeya for Shimano, SLP Works for Daiwa). A part with similar dimensions is never listed as compatible here.

Shimano: Yumeya part types in the spec table

Shimano Japan's spec table includes a Yumeya (夢屋) type for spools, handles, knobs, screw caps and reel stands. These are the codes Shimano lists for each size; match them against the type stated on a Yumeya part's own product page.

Modelspool typehandle typehandle knob typescrew cap typereel stand type

Twin Power 2500SS-33H-11AHC-2C, E
23 Vanquish C2500SS-31, S-32H-10AHC-3C, E

The Vanquish 2500S and Twin Power 2500S are both listed with Yumeya spool type S-33, while the Vanquish C2500S is listed with S-31 / S-32. This tells you which Yumeya spools Shimano designates for each reel. It does not mean Shimano says the stock spool of one model fits the other; we have not found an official statement on that.

Daiwa: SLP Works spools

  • SLPW EX LT Spool 2: 22 Exist listed as a compatible model. SLP Works (Daiwa's custom-parts brand) lists 26 Certate HD, 22/18 Exist, 24/19 Certate, 23 Airity and 21 Luvias Airity as compatible, "each size".
  • LT2500 (normal) spool: Do not fit. SLP Works asks owners not to fit an LT2500 normal spool to FC LT models (it notes the 22 Exist size is LT2500S) because the maximum drag force differs and can overload the gears.

Daiwa's custom-parts brand specifically warns against fitting an LT2500 normal spool to the 22 Exist LT2500S because the maximum drag differs. This is exactly the kind of "it looks the same size" fit we do not recommend.
