Is the US Metanium DC the same reel as the Japanese Metanium DC?
The name is shared, but the size codes line up only for 70HG (METDC70HGA) and 70XG (METDC70XGA). Numerical comparison depends on which US values the maker publishes. Shimano North America lists METANIUM DC A in 70HG and 70XG (71HG and 71XG for left hand). The table has no 70 without a gear suffix.
Every Metanium DC size: Japan vs US
Each Japanese size with the US SKU that has the same code, or else the US SKU with the same size number (a different gear suffix), and the official values that differ.

"Differs on paper" compares gear ratio, weight, max drag and retrieve per crank after our conversion (gaps within 0.15 oz, 1 lb or 0.6 in count as the same). "Not confirmed" means the official table does not give the value.

Prices: Japan list prices are the makers' base prices before consumption tax (Shimano "本体価格", marked 税別; Daiwa "メーカー希望本体価格", marked 税抜). US prices are Shimano North America and Daiwa USA MSRP, or for Shimano baitcasting reels the price on Shimano North America's official online store. Source dates are shown with each record (2026-10-11 or 2026-10-13). We do not convert currencies or add tax. Prices can change; check the current price on the official page.
